Adelaide City Tram Extension

Adelaide City Tram Extension

York Civil

The South Australian State Government committed $80 million in funding for the first stage of the AdeLINK tram network to the city’s East End, including the purchase of three additional trams.

The Budget commitment delivered a one-kilometre extension along North Terrace, from King William street to East Terrace and an extension along King William Road to the Adelaide Festival Plaza precinct.

It provided a new service to the bustling East End shopping, restaurant and tourism precinct, while further invigorating the city's cultural and education boulevard. It also helped to reactivate vacant sites, including key buildings along North Terrace.

The extension features four new stops, one on King William Road servicing the Festival Plaza and three new stops along North Terrace servicing the museum and library precinct, universities and the Old Royal Adelaide Hospital Site.

Portolesi carried out all caulking works to the various structural elements, as well as providing a solution to the many cracks that inadvertently appeared post construction.
